This was followed last year by the 2025 festival the catalyst for which was brought about by a magnanimous gesture from the maker of the Wilfred Owen Violin and other instruments to donate these to the town of Owen's birth. You can read about this on the Wilfred Owen Violin page of this website.
The success of the 2025 festival led to the decision to hold a bi-annual festival and the 2027 festival will once again be organised and delivered by Lights Out Trefonen and as with the previous festivals will be supported financially by Oswestry Town Council. The programme of events has been chosen to mirror the 2025 festival with musical performances (both contemporary and classical) drama, storytelling, film, poetry and informative talks.

The third Wilfred Owen Festival will take place in Oswestry from March 12th - March 21st 2027. Like the previous festivals the Wilfred Owen Festival 2027 is dedicated to honouring the life and works of the renowned poet and soldier in the town of his birth. It follows on from the two previous festivals. The first in 2018 when the worldwide Centenary Commemorations of the end of World War One and of his death just days before the cessation of hostilities in November 1918 took place. It had always been hoped to continue this festival annually in the town of his birth but Covid and other issues led to this not taking place. "Lights Out Trefonen," a community events organisation led by local amateur historian Chris Woods was responsible for the first festival which had as its focal point the unveiling of local artist and sculptor, Tim Turner's bronze statue of Wilfred Owen that sits proudly in Oswestry's, Cae Glas Park.
