Wilfred Owen Primary Schools Workshops

In 2018 the Wilfred Owen Centenary Festival was supported with a financial grant from the Mary Hignett Bequest Fund to deliver half day workshops to local Primary Schools. These workshops were delivered by Debora Alma, “The Emergency Poet”, and her team whose work in schools is well known and regarded throughout the West Midlands and Mid Wales. The workshops involved using an old ambulance as a base to produce poetry and art work that was displayed and performed during the Wilfred Owen Centenary Festival of that year. The workshops were a roaring success and the enjoyment gained by pupils from the fun way the workshops were delivered was matched by the educational benefits attributed them.

The organisers of the Wilfred Owen Festival 2025 are once again pleased to be able to deliver schools workshops to local Primary Schools around the poetry of Wilfred Owen and the theme of this years festival of Peace and Reconciliation. This has once again been made possible by a grant from the Mary Hignett Bequest Fund overseen by Oswestry Rotary Clubs.
